One of the most famous attractions of the Aiguille du Midi is undoubtedly the”Not in a vacuum”, an incredible glass cage overlooking the snowy mountains. Capable of supporting 1500 kilos and perched at 1000 meters, this attraction is very popular, winter and summer.

However, beware of those who are afraid of heights! The impression of “walking in a vacuum” is very realistic.

 

On site, you can take the “tube”, a 32-meter-long steel gallery that allows you to go around the Aiguille du Midi.

Also come and discover the exhibitions on mountaineering and the construction of the cable car that allows access to one of the highest peaks of Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi.

 

Take the red cog train to reach the Mer de Glace

 

Its name sounds like a marvel, its reality lives up to it: the Mer de Glace is a place that will leave you speechless. Every year, thousands of visitors come to Chamonix to have the chance to observe this glacier with its exceptional landscapes.

 

To get to the Mer de Glace, the Montenvers red cog train is a mandatory stop. We board the train, we sit back comfortably, and we let ourselves be transported for 20 minutes to an altitude of 1913 meters.

The train, departing from Montenvers, is an exciting activity for a child and relaxing for an adult. The walk combines calm and beauty, enough to fall asleep peacefully in the evening, with your head full of nice memories...

 

On site, you can enjoy the view of this ice lake and a moment of fresh air, but also several possible activities. You can settle in the refuge, eat at the restaurant, visit the shop, but also visit the Glaciorium, which allows you to learn more about the formation of the Mer de Glace and the evolution of the glacier.

 

But above all, you don't leave Montenvers without visiting the ice cave, inside the glacier. A Mont Blanc spectacle that changes, as a new cave is cut into the glacier every year.

To get there, you will have to take a 20-minute walk on a hiking trail, which will allow you to enjoy the magnificent landscapes at several meters above sea level. It is also possible to take a cable car, but there will still be several hundred steps to climb to reach the cave in 50 shades of blue

Starting from the city center, you will be towed to the top of the course. Then, on a sled attached to rails, you hurtle down the mountain for 1,300 meters, on a course with narrow turns, jumps and 540° twists.

 

Hikes

 

Discover or rediscover the joys of hiking in nature. There are 160 hiking routes in the Chamonix Valley, with or without a guide. Find the itinerary that best suits your desires, there is something for all tastes and all levels.

 

MTB

 

Mountain bike enthusiasts will be delighted with their trip. There are itineraries adapted to all levels., beginners can have fun on flat tracks, while the most expert can get the adrenaline going down to the city of Chamonix.

 

Enjoy the exceptional waters of the Vallée Blanche

 

We also take advantage of the beautiful summer days to cool off in an idyllic lake or waterfall! The Mont-Blanc Valley is famous for its many swimming spots, between blue-green lake and majestic waterfall, you won't know where to look.

 

However, it is often necessary to walk a bit to get there. In particular, you will have the choice between the Cascade du Dard or the Cascade de Bérard, two places to visit alone or in duo. And even if the second is a bit more difficult to reach, it's worth the trip!

 

At the foot of the Aiguille du Midi, at about 2299 meters above sea level, we also find the Lac Bleu. Very easy to access, this lake impresses with its bright blue-green color that makes you want to dive without further ado.

While the lake is easy to reach, the path leading to it is littered with large pebbles. Any advice? Be equipped with good walking shoes! And don't forget to lift your head to enjoy a panoramic view of the Aiguilles Rouges Massif and the Aiguille du Midi!

For the Golf lovers, Chamonix is a town not to be missed. In and around the city, many places are arranged for you! Among them, the Golf du Grand-Bornand offers a flat course, including 9 holes. With a breathtaking view of Pointe Percée, players combine the pleasure of playing with that of contemplating.

 

The Flaine — Les Carroz golf course is also very enjoyable. Bigger, its 18-hole course is located at 1900 meters above sea level, at the Pierre Carrée pass. As for the panorama, you will enjoy incredible views of Belladona, the Aravis range or the Mont-Blanc massif.

 

For those who want to be spoilt for choice, the Arcs 1800 golf course has two courses, one with 9 and one with 18 holes. All levels are welcome!

 

Last place to mention, the Clusaz Golf Club. A small gem of a course (2 times 6 holes), located on the Confins plateau. A warm atmosphere and a sumptuous panorama will be waiting for you.
