Descent of the Vallée Blanche, a unique experience to live

The Vallée Blanche is an off-trail ski descent of more than 20 kilometers in the heart of the Mont-Blanc Massif. Get in touch with high mountain professionals; they will be able to guide and accompany you in this unique experience.

White Valley Descent

The hotel les Aiglons is ideally located in the heart of Chamonix to experience the descent of the Vallée Blanche.

Accessible from the Aiguille du Midi cable car, you will ski down to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (1050 meters). La Descent of this famous high mountain glacier course in the heart of the Mont-Blanc Massif is accessible to good skiers.

La Descent of the Vallée Blanche can be carried out depending on the year from mid-December to the end of April but this depends heavily on snow conditions. Several downhill routes in the Vallée Blanche are possible:

  • The real Valley, the classic one: a very panoramic and relatively non-technical descent
  • The White Valley by the Petit Envers
  • The Vallée Blanche via the Grand Envers: steeper slopes

Before embarking on this spectacular adventure, it seemed important to us to mention a few points. In addition, for safety reasons, the presence of a mountain professional is highly recommended.

  • The required level of skiing: this high mountain itinerary is neither marked, nor secured nor supervised. You must at least know how to ski on red or even black slopes. However, several factors can reduce your technical and physical abilities (temperatures, wind, wind, fog, cold, different types of snow, edges, glacier traps: hidden crevasses, fragile snow bridges...)

The descent of the Vallée Blanche requires good control of your speed and trajectory and good physical fitness. The presence of a mountain professional is highly recommended.

The equipment needed for a descent of the Vallée Blanche:

  • Cleats
  • Skis: attach them to your backpack for a more comfortable descent
  • Baudrier
  • Ice axes
  • Probes
  • Corde
  • Equipment required in case of a fall into a crevice

— The personal equipment to be provided:

  • Warm clothing for high mountains: temperatures can drop quickly
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • A backpack with drinks and groceries

The duration of the Descent of the Vallée Blanche being approximately 4 to 6 am, it is strictly not recommended to leave in the afternoon and to leave alone.

Your 4-star hotel Les Aiglons invites you to contact directly with High Mountain professionals from the Chamonix Valley. For less experienced skiers, many ski areas in the Chamonix Valley are available to you.
