What are the ski areas in Chamonix?
1. Les Grands Montets

3. Domaine de Balme

4. Les Houches

* Confirmed and expert - a mythical terrain: Les Grands Montets, the Vallée Blanche and some sections of Brévent or Les Houches have black runs, legendary off-road trails, glacier routes and challenges up to your level. When will the cross-country ski trail open in Chamonix?
The Chamonix Nordic ski area (accessible from the city center, especially from Le Bouchet) offers about 20 km of trails designed in classical and skating style (red, green, blue slopes). The opening dates for the 2025—2026 season are scheduled from December 14 to March 22, subject to snow conditions. During the day, the trails are generally open from 9 am to 5 pm. In addition, the Cross-country skiing evenings are organized every Thursday during school holidays, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with free access and entertainment provided by ESF Chamonix.
