Some require several hours of walking to reach them, others are located a stone's throw from the city...
Haute-Savoie has dozens of lakes, more or less famous, but they are all part of the beauty of the Alps.
The geographical location of Chamonix allows tourists to easily contemplate these bodies of water and their enchanting settings.
One of the best known in the valley happens to be the Lac Blanc. The latter is part of the Aiguilles Rouges reserve and is located at 2352 meters; it has the particularity of always having part of its area covered by snow, even in summer!
Walkers generally continue with Lac des Chéserys located downstream and indicated by the trail. The two lakes offer a superb panorama of the Mont-Blanc range (the Drus, the Mont-Blanc, the Grandes Jorasses, the Aiguille Verte among others) and the prestigious glaciers of the valley (the Tours, Argentière, the Grands-Montets, the Mer de Glace, the Bossons Glacier, Taconnaz).
Still on the same slope, you can contemplate the Lacs Noirs, Lac du Cornu and Lac du Cornu. Brévent, less famous but no less magnificent.
These icons of Chamonix are easily accessible thanks to the 350 km of trails at your disposal on the resort, i.e. 170 possible routes!
Our hotel teams will be happy to advise you on the best trails to take and how to access them. Be sure to check the weather conditions carefully before going to the mountains.
In case these are not favorable you will not be bored anyway!
