The World Cup program

 

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is one of the most important places in the climbing world. In 2022, the city will have the honor of welcoming one of the most beautiful climbing competitions : the climbing world cup in Chamonix. The best climbers on the planet will come and compete at the foot of Mont-Blanc in various speed and difficulty events.

 

The World Cup program promises to be very exciting! Among the main sites climbed, we find:

  • Les Chavants aux Houches : height of the site of 15 meters, initial altitude of 1,000 meters.
  • Gaillands climbing rock, located at the bottom of the valley (paradise for beginners and very occasional climbers): height of the site between 20 and 70 meters, starting altitude of 1,000 meters.
  • La Joux : height of the site between 5 and 30 meters, starting altitude of 1,250 meters.
  • Barberine : height of the site between 15 and 300 meters, starting altitude of 1,300 meters.
  • Dalles de l'Arveyron, Chamonix : height of the site between 20 and 60 meters, starting altitude of 1,300 meters.
  • Le Couteray, Vallorcine : height of the site of 15 meters, initial altitude of 1,400 meters.
  • Le Chapeau, Chamonix : height of the site between 20 and 100 meters, initial altitude of 1,600 meters.
  • Others : Coupeau, Les Houches, Falaise du Brévent, Cliff of Montenvers, etc.

 

The city of Chamonix also has everything planned to mitigate the weather conditions. On rainy days, the Richard Bozon sports center offers an indoor climbing wall to host the events of Chamonix climbing world cup.
