Lac Bleu to Chamonix by cable car

If you're looking for a quick base for your trip to Lac Bleu, the Hotel Le Refuge des Aiglons in Chamonix is ideal. From our 4-star hotel, you simply take the Aiguille du Midi cable car to the Plan de l'Aiguille stop. A 15-minute walk will take you to the magnificent mountain lake, surrounded by blueberries and whistling marmots. Located at the foot of theAiguille du Midi at an altitude of 2299 metres, novice hikers will appreciate the ease of access. However, bring good walking shoes and beware of the many rocks. The trail is very well signposted, perfect for family or couple outings . However, children under 4 years of age are contraindicated.

Lac Bleu is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy a picnic. Admire thecrystal-clear water and the panoramic view of the Aiguilles Rouges massif and theAiguille du Midi.

Great Blue Lake hike

Do you love adventure? Does hiking appeal to you? Choose a hike to Lac Bleu that lasts around 6 hours round trip. Wear warm clothes even in summer, sunglasses and protection from the sun!

From the Grépon parking lot, head for the Alpages de la Blaitière via a forest track that winds up in short twists and turns. Continue towards Plan de l'Aiguille until you reach a crossroads at 1231 m altitude. After less than a kilometer, at another crossroads, continue your ascent towards the Plan de l'Aiguille, leaving the path leading down to the Cascade du Dard. As you leave the forested area, take time to appreciate the magnificent views of the Aiguille du Midi and the Bossons glacier.

Then it's on to a rocky world with splendid views of the Grépon, Blaitière and Grands Charmoz peaks in the Mont-Blanc Massif. After a bit of hard work, take a break at the Chalet du Plan de l'Aiguille at 2233 m altitude.

From the chalet, turn right to reach the intermediate station of the Aiguille du Midi cable car. Follow the signs to Lac Bleu and it's just a 15-minute walk to the superb high-altitude lake.
