R. Bozon Skating Rink

In Chamonix, the Richard Bozon sports center is a complex comprising a swimming pool, climbing wall, weight room, squash court... It was named after a mountain guide, Richard Bozon, who died in 1995 during an avalanche. This year, why not try or repeat the experience of sliding on ice? The R. Bozon ice rink is located right next to the sports complex. Depending on the season and weather conditions, you can use the outdoor skating rink or the indoor skating rink. The indoor skating rink is a 60m x 30m Olympic skating rink. It is the cradle of multiple French Ice Hockey Champions with its team Chamonix Hockey Club, which is the most successful French club, and of the French Curling team. It has a capacity of 1,700 seats. The 26 m x 56 m natural outdoor skating rink is only open during the winter season and depending on weather conditions.

 

Skating rink schedules and prices

The skating rink is open every day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Here are the prices for the R. Bozon skating rink:

  • Free for children under 6
  • €4.90 for 6-17 year olds
  • €6.60 for adults
  • Skate rental at 4.40€
  • Family card, 6 tickets with skates at €49
  • With the guest card: entry under 18 at €3.80
  • With the guest card: adult admission at €5.20

How do I get to the skating rink?

Located in downtown Chamonix, at 214 Avenue de la Plage 74400 Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, there are several ways to get to the R. Bozon ice rink.

  • By train stopping at Chamonix-Mont-Blanc station
  • By bus stopping at the nearest stop: Media Library
  • By car, several car parks are nearby: Le Carzolet car park, Médiathèque or Fond des Gires.

What else to do on site?

The skating rink is located right next to the Richard Bozon sports center, which includes a climbing wall, a swimming pool, a weight and fitness room, squash and tennis courts, etc. You will also find a bar-restaurant with a glass lounge overlooking the skating rink.

Ice hockey in Chamonix

The Chamonix Hockey Club or CHC, nicknamed the Chamois de Chamonix, is a French ice hockey club. He won the most titles in the French ice hockey championship with 30 victories. The Chamois celebrated their 100th anniversary during the 2009-2010 season. After a failed attempt to merge with the Pingouins de Morzine-Avoriaz team during the 2016-2017 season, the professional team returned to Chamonix under the name of the Pioneers of Chamonix. Open to the public all year round, the Richard Bozon skating rink welcomes the Pioneers on match nights. With the possibility of receiving up to 1,700 fans, the stadium is considered to be a “big ice cream” of the championship. If you are interested in a Pioneers match on the Chamonix ice rink, you can buy your tickets online.

Figure skating in Chamonix

The R. Bozon skating rink also hosts the Chamonix Figure Skating Club (CPAC), which is the official club in the Chamonix Valley. The Club was founded in 1967, it was inspired by the first Winter Olympic Games organized in Chamonix in 1924. Today, the CPAC has more than 100 skaters and a management team made up of professionals and continues to welcome girls and boys, but also adults, including beginners.
