Chamonix Golf Course: Our Selection

back to the news

Exploring Chamonix’s golf courses during your stay in the Alps will certainly be worth your while! Golfing may not be the first activity that springs to mind when one thinks about a holiday in Chamonix. And yet, the area boasts several golf courses, each more amazing than the last. Indeed, Haute-Savoie, Savoie and nearby Italy and Switzerland all have in common one particularity: their awe-inspiring landscapes! Golfing while gazing at the imposing grandeur of the Mont Blanc is an experience you won’t soon forget…

Chamonix Golf Club

If you are staying at our hotel Aiglons in Chamonix, you’ll be less than 5 km away from one of the most famous golf courses in the world: the Chamonix Golf Club. Created before World War II, it only used to have 9 holes and was a humble facility whose aim was mainly to provide locals with a new entertaining activity. In 1982, Robert Trent Jones Senior turned it into the most breathtaking mountain golf course. Mostly flat, its layout spreads over more than 6 km, offering 18 holes and a par of 72.

This Chamonix golf course also has all the amenities one could dream of, including a restaurant and instructors to help you improve your swing!

Courmayeur Golf Club

Often organizing events in collaboration with the golf club in Chamonix, Courmayeur features an equally well-known golf course. Located just a few kilometers away from the Mont Blanc tunnel, at the foot of the Grandes Jorasses, the site offers a very different – though just as stunning – view of the Mont Blanc. The Doire Baltée River even runs through the course, creating a beautiful décor.

Geneva Golf Course

While you will have to drive a little further than you would to reach your Chamonix golf course, Geneva golf course is a must-see if you love this particular sport. Offering an incomparable view of the city of Geneva, its renowned lake and even the beautiful Jet d’Eau, this spot is an absolute gem and only an hour’s drive away from Chamonix. As the club is quite select, you will need to get in touch in advance, unless you go there to attend a tournament!

Megève Golf Course

As chic as it is beautiful, this course is one you should always swing by on a Chamonix golf holiday! This stupendous property is part of the Rotschild estate and belongs to the Mont-d’Arbois Domaine. The 18-hole course covers 6074 m with a par of 72 and follows a gentle slope just above the village. It boasts a Golfing Academy, a clubhouse, carts and even a pro shop. If you are spending the whole day there, you will also get to enjoy its excellent restaurant. As most of the Chamonix golf courses, Megève plays host to several yearly events.

Aux Arcs Golf Course

More recent, this golf course was created in 1990 by Robert Berhet as part of the Golfy network. Aux Arcs spans over 60 hectares at an altitude of 1800 m, facing the Italian side of the Mont Blanc. It is comprised of two distinct courses offering two levels of difficulty where the Leadbetter Academy regularly organizes lessons under the supervision of Gabriel Gliksohn.

Whether you decide to dedicate your Alpine holiday to visiting all of Chamonix’s golf courses or to enjoy the plethora of summer activities Chamonix has to offer, including hiking, rock climbing, water activities, paragliding and more, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Be sure to ask your hotel’s staff for advice: they’ll be happy to help you pick the perfect activities for you and your family for an unforgettable stay. In Chamonix, every season has its own magic!
