Every year, at the end of June, the Mont-Blanc Marathon takes place in Chamonix in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. For the occasion, the French ski capital in Haute-Savoie is transformed into a trail festival.

The Mont-Blanc Marathon in Chamonix is a must for runners. The next edition will take place from June 23 to 26, 2022.

Mont Blanc Marathon: the program

 

During the famous Mont Blanc Marathon, several hours of live coverage are provided to follow the course of events, the progress of runners and the results.

 

Here is the schedule for the 2022 program:

  • Thursday, June 23 :

Trail Camp from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Place du Mont-Blanc. This trade show brings together trail equipment suppliers, partners and organizers.

  • Friday, June 24 :

90 km du Mont-Blanc.
Mont-Blanc Vertical Kilometer.

  • Saturday, June 25 :

23 km Mont-Blanc.
10 km Mont-Blanc.
Mini cross.
Star duo.

  • Sunday, June 26 :

42 km Mont-Blanc
Young Race Marathon.

 

Mont Blanc Marathon: race information

 

Running on the roof of Europe and enjoying breathtaking panoramas has to be earned. Indeed, most of the Mont-Blanc Marathon races require good mountain running experience and a certain UTMB performance index. Find out more before taking part in a race.

 

90 Km Mont-Blanc: departure at 4:00 am from Place du Triangle de l'Amitié for 92 km and 6330 m of ascent. An ultra trail race at altitude as technical as it is mythical, with a night section.

 

42 Km du Mont-Blanc: departure 7.30 am from Place du Triangle de l'Amitié for a distance of 42 km with a vertical drop of 2540 m. The most eagerly-awaited event of the weekend, it is part of the second stage (the only one in France) of the Salomon Golden Trail World Series.

 

23 km Mont-Blanc: departure at 8:00 a.m. from the paragliding area for a distance of 23 km, with a positive altitude difference of 1,680 m. This friendly race will celebrate its 43rd anniversary in 2022.

 

Duo étoilé: departure at 7.30pm from Place du Triangle de l'Amitié for a distance of 21km with a climb of 1450m. This night-time race is a duo event.

 

10 km du Mont-Blanc: 10:30 am departure from the paragliding area for a 10 km run with a 280 m vertical drop. This event takes place in the Chamonix valley and can be run with family or friends.

 

KMVertical du Mont-Blanc: starts at 5:00 pm at Place du Triangle de l'Amitié for a distance of 3.8 km and a positive altitude difference of 1000 m. This is an alpine race against the clock.

A bonus will be awarded to the fastest men's and women's times.

 

Young Race Marathon: starts at 10.30 a.m. in Montroc for 15 km with a positive altitude difference of 810 m and a negative altitude difference of 1160 m. A race dedicated to young people, it follows the end of the 42 km Mont-Blanc course.

 

Mini-cross: departure from the paragliding area at 2:30 p.m. for the 800 m cross-country race, 3:00 p.m. for the 2 km race and 3:30 p.m. for the 3 km cross-country race. Races like the grown-ups, for the kids. All participants win, with medals awarded at the finish.

 

Register for the Mont Blanc Marathon 2022

 

Registration for the Mont Blanc Marathon 2022 is online only, with payment by credit card.

 

When pre-registering, runners can register individually or as a club, and must choose between the following three races: 23 km, 42 km and 90 km. If the number of pre-registrants for a race exceeds the maximum number of runners possible, a draw is made.

 

No draw is necessary for the other races: 10 km, KMV, Duo étoilé, Young Race Marathon and Mini Cross. Registration for these races is open while places last, so don't delay!
