Born in Les Houches, Haute-Savoie, Merlin Surget began skiing at the age of 6. At the age of 8, snowboarding quickly took over, as it offered more sensations. The French athlete took part in his first French championships at the age of 10, winning numerous junior titles. Supported by his peers, he asserted his desire to win at the Olympic Games from an early age. In fact, Merlin Surget's many titles are a testament to his perseverance and motivation to push his limits.

Every sporting season, the snowboarder takes part in intense physical and mental preparation. During the summer, Merlin Surget alternates between weight training, running, trampoline and skateboarding. Then, in autumn, the champion gets back to training on his snowboard to perfect his jumps, bumps and turns.

Merlin Surget aims for excellence

The young member of the French Snowboard Cross Team has an impressive track record. A member of the Club des Sports de Chamonix, it was in January 2015 that Merlin Surget won a gold medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in the individual and mixed events. He was the flag-bearer for the French delegation.

In 2016, the snowboarder will be taking part in the European Cup and World Cup, among other events.

In 2017, the Frenchman multiplied his competitions in Europe and the USA, finishing 5th at the Junior World Cup in Klivonec, Czech Republic. He finished 7th at the 2018 World Cup in La Molina. That same year, he finished 4th on the podium at the National Championships in Peyragudes in the Hautes-Pyrénées.

Merlin Surget has several French Champion titles to his name, including the one he won at Isola 2000 in 2019. The Haut-Savoyard continues to aim for excellence in his discipline and remains highly ambitious. Merlin Surget is still aiming for victory at the Winter Olympics.
