What to do in Chamonix in winter

Whether you're a beginner, an expert or an extreme FreeRider, Chamonix is THE destination to experience the joys of winter.

Skiing in Chamonix: Adapted ski areas

For the more experienced, there are suitable areas to practice:

Departing from Chamonix or Les Praz, the Brévent-Flégèreon the sunny side of the slope, will be your best choice at the start of the season.

Starting from Argentière, the Grands Montetson the north-facing slope retains its quality snow for a very long time. This is the last site to close during the season.

At the bottom of the valley, on the Swiss border, the Domaine du Tour-Vallorcine is ideal for families.

At Les Houches, the resort adjoining Chamonix, you can glide down sheltered slopes on windy days.

For expert skiers :

The well-known " Top des Grands Montets ", with its ungroomed snow and secure areas, is sure to please. Please note that the Top des Grands Montets is currently closed for renovation.

As for the famous Vallée Blanche, this itinerary on the glacier from the Aiguille du Midi is a must-do at least once in your life.

Please note: We strongly recommend that you be accompanied by a mountain guide!
