If you want to try something different from skiing and enjoy the extraordinary beauty of Mont Blanc, a snowshoe walk is the ideal way to take in the magnificent scenery that Chamonix has to offer.
There are a multitude of hikes, for beginners and the more athletic, ranging from 40 minutes to several hours, depending on your preferences, with or without a guide.
Visiting the Aiguille du Midi
The must-see on your trip? The Aiguille du Midi, one of Mont Blanc's highest peaks, with a magnificent view of the mountains.
Aboard a cable car cabin, you can reach the first landing at 2317 meters in 10 minutes, then take a second cable car to reach 3842 meters and the Aiguille du Midi. The panorama of Mont Blanc, the mountains and the valley is unique in the world.
Thanks to the orientation table, you can find your way around and discover which peaks lie ahead.
One of the Aiguille du Midi's most famous attractions is undoubtedly the "Pas dans le vide", an incredible glass cage overlooking the snow-covered massifs. Capable of supporting 1,500 kilos and perched at a height of 1,000 metres, this attraction is very popular, winter and summer alike.
Beware, however, of those who are afraid of heights! The impression of "walking in a void" is very realistic.
On site, you can take the "tube", a 32-meter-long steel gallery that leads around the Aiguille du Midi.
Come and see the exhibitions on mountaineering and the construction of the cable car that provides access to one of Mont Blanc's highest peaks, the Aiguille du Midi.
Take the red cogwheel train to the Mer de Glace
The Mer de Glace is a place that will leave you speechless. Every year, thousands of visitors flock to Chamonix for the chance to observe this glacier of exceptional scenery.
To reach the Mer de Glace, the red Montenvers cogwheel train is a must. Board the train, make yourself comfortable, and let yourself be transported for 20 minutes to an altitude of 1913 meters.
The train from Montenvers is an exciting activity for children and a relaxing one for adults. The ride combines peace and beauty, so you can fall asleep peacefully in the evening, your head full of beautiful memories...
On site, you can enjoy the view of this lake of ice and a moment of fresh air, as well as a wide range of activities. You can stay in the hut, eat in the restaurant, browse in the store, or visit the Glaciorium, where you can learn more about the formation of the Mer de Glace and the evolution of the glacier.
But above all, you can't leave Montenvers without visiting the ice grotto inside the glacier. It's an ever-changing view of Mont Blanc, as a new grotto is carved out of the glacier every year.
To get there, you'll need to take a 20-minute stroll along a footpath, which allows you to enjoy the magnificent scenery several meters above sea level. You can also take a cable car, but you'll still have to climb several hundred steps to reach the 50 Shades of Blue cave.

Located in the Planards ski area, the Chamonix Attraction Park offers a wide range of activities for all ages. From slides and water games to trampolines, carousels and mini-motorbikes... the hardest part is stopping!
But the park's most popular attraction is summer tobogganing. The Alpine Coaster toboggan is an activity that can be enjoyed in both winter and summer, and is accessible from the age of 3.
Departing from the town center, you'll be towed to the top of the course. Then, on a toboggan attached to rails, you'll hurtle down the mountain for 1,300 meters, on a course featuring tight bends, jumps and spins at 540°.
Hiking
Discover or rediscover the joys of hiking in the great outdoors. There are 160 hiking itineraries in the Chamonix Valley, with or without a guide. Find the itinerary that suits you best, with something to suit all tastes and abilities.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Mountain bikers will be delighted with their trip. There are itineraries to suit all levels: beginners can have fun on flat trails, while the more expert can get their adrenalin pumping on the way down to the town of Chamonix.
Enjoy the Vallée Blanche's exceptional water spots
We also take advantage of beautiful summer days to cool off in an idyllic lake or waterfall! The Mont-Blanc Valley is renowned for its many bathing spots, from blue-green lakes to majestic waterfalls, you won't know where to turn.
However, it's often necessary to do a bit of walking to get there. You can choose between the Cascade du Dard and the Cascade de Bérard, both of which are ideal for solo or duo visits. And even if the latter is a little harder to reach, it's well worth the detour!
At the foot of the Aiguille du Midi, at an altitude of around 2,299 metres, you'll also find Lac Bleu. Very easy to access, this lake impresses with its bright blue-green hue that makes you want to dive in without further ado.
While the lake is easy to reach, the path leading to it is strewn with large stones. A word of advice? Wear good walking shoes! And don't forget to look up for a panoramic view of the Massif des Aiguilles Rouges and the Aiguille du Midi!
Enjoy the various golf courses in and around Chamonix
For golf enthusiasts, Chamonix is the place to be. In and around the town, there are plenty of places to play! Among them, the Golf du Grand-Bornand offers a flat, 9-hole course. With a breathtaking view of the Pointe Percée, players can combine the pleasure of playing with that of contemplation.
The Golf de Flaine - les Carroz is also very popular. Its larger 18-hole course is located at an altitude of 1,900 m, at the Col de Pierre Carrée. The panoramic views of Belladone, the Aravis mountain range and the Mont-Blanc massif are incredible.
For those who want to be spoilt for choice, the golf course at Les Arcs 1800 has two courses, a 9-hole and an 18-hole. All levels are welcome!
Last but not least, the Clusaz Golf Club. A gem of a course (2 x 6 holes), located on the Confins plateau. A warm atmosphere and sumptuous panoramic views.
