Vallée Blanche descent, a unique experience

The Vallée Blanche is an off-piste ski descent of over 20 kilometers in the heart of the Mont-Blanc Massif. Get in touch with our mountain professionals, who will guide and accompany you on this unique experience.

Vallée Blanche descent

The les Aiglons hotel is ideally located in the heart of Chamonix to experience the Vallée Blanche.

Accessible from the Aiguille du Midi cable car, you ski down to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (1050 m). The descent of this famous high-mountain glacier course in the heart of the Mont-Blanc Massif is accessible to good skiers.

Depending on the year, the Vallée Blanche can be descended from mid-December to the end of April, but this is highly dependent on snow conditions. There are several possible routes down the Vallée Blanche:

  • The real Vallée, the classic: a panoramic descent with relatively few technical difficulties
  • Vallée Blanche via Petit Envers
  • The Vallée Blanche via the Grand Envers: steeper slopes

Before embarking on this spectacular adventure, we thought it important to mention a few points. For safety reasons, the presence of a mountain professional is strongly recommended.

  • Ski level required: this high-mountain itinerary is neither marked, nor safe, nor supervised. At the very least, you need to be able to ski on red or even black runs. However, several factors can reduce your technical and physical ability (temperatures, wind, fog, cold, different types of snow, ridges, glacier traps: hidden crevasses, fragile snow bridges...).

Descending the Vallée Blanche requires good control of your speed and trajectory, as well as good physical fitness. The presence of a mountain professional is strongly recommended.

Equipment needed for a Vallée Blanche descent:

  • Crampons
  • Skis: attach them to your backpack for a more comfortable descent
  • Harness
  • Ice axes
  • Probes
  • Rope
  • Equipment needed for crevasse falls

- L'AMENITIES personnel à prévoir :

  • Warm clothing for the high mountains: temperatures can drop rapidly
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun cream
  • A backpack with drinks and food for the race

As the Vallée Blanche descent takes approximately 4 to 6 hours, it is strictly inadvisable to set off in the afternoon and leave alone.

Your 4-star hotel Les Aiglons invites you to get in touch directly with the Chamonix Valley's mountain professionals. For less experienced skiers, there are many ski areas in the Chamonix Valley to choose from.
